Are You Considering a Church Wedding?

We have three wonderful churches to choose from each with its own unique character.

In January this year Bishop Mark, the Bishop of Chester fully licensed Jenkin chapel for wedding ceremonies for the first time in its near 300-year history. Before this there have been weddings at Jenkin Chapel but only when the couple has been able to obtain an Archbishop's special licence which could be difficult to obtain and was expensive.

If you live in our combined parish of Rainow with Saltersford and Forest, or you have another qualifying connection, you may be able to marry in any one of the three churches.

The qualifying connections are as follows:

  • You or your fiancé / fianceé (or one of your parents) has at any time since you were born lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months.

  • You or your fiancé / fianceé were baptised (christened) in the parish concerned

  • You or your fiancé / fianceé were confirmed and your confirmation was entered in the register of confirmations for a church or chapel in the parish (this will usually be the case if you were prepared for confirmation in the parish).

  • You or your fiancé / fianceé (or one of your parents) has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months.

  • One of your parents or grandparents was married within the parish.

  • If you cannot demonstrate any of the above connections, you could create one, simply by attending any one of our three church's usual services at least once a month for six consecutive months.

Church blessings of civil weddings may also be available.

If you have any queries about wedding arrangements or your eligibility to marry in one of our churches, please contact the vicar:

Revd. Simon Gowler (01625 572013).
